Mango and Mint Lassi

If you haven’t heard of lassi before, you’re in for a treat. This popular, traditional Indian yogurt-based drink can be prepared sweet or salty and can include many different Indian spices and flavors. It is a refreshing summer drink, and outside of “plain” lassi, it can come in many flavors like mango and rose and even can be made in a vegan-friendly version. 

Two of our favorite forms of lassi are Savory Mint Lassi and this Sweet Mango Lassi recipe. 

Either of these beverages would make a great afternoon snack, a special surprise for your next party, or a refreshing accompaniment for any of our hot and spicy entreés

Savory Mint Lassi

  • 2 cups whole, soy, or non-dairy yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 20 springs mint
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 2-4 tbsp whole, soy, or non-dairy milk


  • Using a blender, finely blend the mint and milk. Start with two tablespoons of milk, and add more if the mint leaves are not blending correctly.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and blend until well combined.
  • Garnish with fresh mint leaves.

Sweet Mango Lassi

  • 1 cup yogurt or soy yogurt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup mango pureé
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • 1/3 cup milk or soy milk


  • splash rose water


  • Use a blender to combine all ingredients until smooth.
  • Garnish with a swirl of mango pureé or sliced mango.
