Today, we’re going to walk you through making Green Chutney, also known as “hari chutney.” This chutney got the name probably because of its green color which is “hara” in hindi.

What is green chutney?

In its simplest form, green chutney is a sauce made green by the bunches of cilantro the recipe calls for. Depending on the recipe, mint can also be used to give a green punch of color as well as a different flavor.

While simple spiced chutney originated in India as early as 500 BC, it’s likely that green chutney originated there as well. To make today’s recipe, you’ll need cilantro, serrano chilis, sugar, salt, pureed ginger, pureed garlic, vinegar, lemon juice, and water.
